This course introduces learners to basic understanding of media and information as channels of communication and tools for the development of individuals and societies. It also aims to develop students to be creative and critical thinkers as well as responsible users and competent producers of media and information.

At the end of the course, the students should be able to: 

  1. Differentiate various forms of media. 

  1. Remember various communication models related to media and information. 

  1. Identify various issues affecting media and information literacy. 

  1. Read articles related to media and literacy. 

  1. Enumerate the effects of various media on one’s thought processes and actions. 

  1. Analyze processes of creating and publicizing information through media as well as media outputs. 

  1. Role play various situations related to media use. 

  1. Practice politeness, consideration, and ethical behaviors in using media. 

  1. Write articles and reviews on various media works and issues. 

  1. Create different media productions that tackle social advocacies.
