This course provides an introduction to Systems Analysis and Design. Topics include analyzing the business case, requirements modeling, enterprise modeling, and development strategies. Students also learn about data design, the user interface, input and output design, system architecture, systems implementation and systems operations and support.

Systems analysis is the study of sets of interacting entities, including computer systems analysis. This field is closely related to requirements analysis or operations research. It is also "an explicit formal inquiry carried out to help someone (referred to as the decision maker) identify a better course of action and make a better decision than he might otherwise have made."

Systems design is the process of defining the architecture, components, modules, interfaces, and data for a system to satisfy specified requirements. Systems design could see it as the application of systems theory to product development. There is some overlap with the disciplines of systems analysis, systems architecture and systems engineering.
